Velddrif to Vredendal (The missing link on the R27 highway)

On a previous road trip from Cape Town to desolated and fascinating Verneukpan in the Northern Cape, we noticed something interesting. The R27 highway, which we in Cape Town know as the "West Cost Road", also runs through large parts of the Karoo/Northern Cape. Fancy that!
As one does, we thought it a great idea to drive the full length of the R27 highway from Cape Town in the South to Keimoes on the Orange River in the North.
We very soon discovered that the section between Velddrif and Vredendal was never built! Well, not as the R27 anyway. (Perhaps we should have known, but we didn't). So what to do?
We decided to do a little detour and make an extra clip of the west coast section before hitting the R27 again.
