Wood apples are loved not only for their delicious flavor but also for their nutritious value. Hari Lakshmi, Consultant – Dietitian/Nutritionist, Motherhood Hospitals, Chennai, spoke to Health Shots about the health benefits of bael fruit.

Lakshmi says, “The wood apple is one such fruit that has several health advantages. The fruit, also known as bael in India’s Northern belt, is nothing short of a blessing since it is said to be particularly helpful against sunstroke and other summer-related health conditions. Every portion of a wood apple is edible and beneficial to the body, and it is high in vitamins, fiber, and other nutrients.”
