Gryfice is a small historic town in northwestern Poland, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It has a population of around 16,000 residents and traces its origins back to the 13th century, when it was granted town rights under Lübeck law. Once a part of the Hanseatic League, Gryfice developed as a trading and agricultural hub in medieval Pomerania. The town still preserves fragments of its medieval city walls, a Gothic church, and a charming old town layout. In terms of urban planning, Gryfice maintains a compact, walkable structure, with modern development expanding around the historic core. Public transportation is modest, relying on local buses, while rail links connect it to larger cities like Szczecin and Kołobrzeg. Gryfice also features a narrow-gauge railway museum, reflecting its unique role in regional transport history.
