Midosuji, the main street of Osaka city, is named
after Kita-Mido and Minami-Mido.
Kita-Mido is a branch temple of Nishi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.
Minami-Mido is a branch temple of Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.
In the 16th century, Honganji (head temple) was located in Osaka,
but was later moved to Kyoto.
Amida Buddha has been widely worshipped as a god
who leads people to the Pure Land.
In Kitamido Museum, you can learn about the relationship and history
between Kita-Mido, Honganji Temple and Osaka City.
