Texture can completely transform a flat painting into something layered, expressive and alive. The good news? You don’t need costly art supplies to achieve it.

In this video, I show you how I create texture in my acrylic paintings using everyday materials like sand, eggshells, handmade stencils, old credit cards, bubble wrap, skewers and transparent glazes. Most of what I use is already around me.

I rarely buy texture mediums. Instead, I focus on being resourceful and finding inspiration in simple materials. Texture is everywhere. We just need to learn how to see it.
