Achari chicken is usually a red curry made with tomatoes but this white version is far better in my opinion! The achari taste comes from the combination of spices we use.
I promise this doesn’t taste like yoghurt, it tastes like it’s made with cream, very good for gains!
I actually saw this on someone else’s instagram a few weeks ago and I can’t find the original recipe so if you know who it is, tag them below!!
Ingredients:
500g boneless chicken thighs, chopped into pieces
2 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste
200g greek yogurt (not low fat, it splits)
2-4 green chillies
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Small handful of chopped coriander
Whole spices:
1/4 tsp cloves
1/3 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
1/2 tsp nigella seeds (kalonji)
1/2 tsp fennel seeds (saunf)
1/2 tsp dried red chillies
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
Start by adding ghee to your pot and once it melts, add in all the whole spices listed above and let them sizzle for 30-40 seconds.
Add in the ginger and garlic paste and stir for 2 mins.
Add in the chicken and cook until it’s no longer pink on all sides and has released some of its liquid.
Whisk the yoghurt and add that in along with the green chillies and again mix really well.
Once everything has combined, you should notice that the sauce has a very thin consistency.
Put the lid on and turn the heat down and let it cook for 10 mins or until the chickens cooked through.
Remove the lid and if it’s too thick or stuck to the bottom then add a splash of water and mix it through until you get your desired consistency.
Finish with black pepper and coriander aannndd enjoy!
