Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session Begins Today: Heated Debates Expected on Key Issues

Описание: The Monsoon Session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly commences today, running until September 25th, with a total of seven working days. The session will begin at 11 AM, with the first day dedicated to a condolence motion for the late MLA Rajendra Dholakia, after which the house will be adjourned in his honor.

Ahead of the session, both opposition parties, BJD and Congress, have strategized their approach in their respective legislative party meetings. The main opposition, BJD, plans to raise crucial issues such as women's safety, fertilizer shortage, increased powers for officers in the Panchayat system, and Odia pride. Opposition leader Naveen Patnaik has reportedly guided the BJD legislators to be the voice of the people and corner the government.

Similarly, Congress has decided to make women's harassment, fertilizer black marketing, student union elections, unemployment, and law and order their primary weapons to attack the government in the house. Congress has also resolved to bring a no-confidence motion against the "Mohan government," citing its failure to provide good governance to the people of Odisha in the last year and a half.

The ruling party is prepared to respond to all issues raised by the opposition through discussions. The ruling BJP will hold its legislative party meeting today to finalize its strategy. With six government working days and one private member day, the monsoon session is expected to be quite intense. To ensure a smooth session, the Speaker has sought cooperation from both ruling and opposition parties in an all-party meeting.
