Toasted Siopao (Hot Bun/Pork Bun) is one of the famous bread in the Philippines. It can be done through steamed as well. It has a saucy and flavourful filling.
Ingredients:
DOUGH
-1 1/2 cup bread flour
-1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-1/2 cup lukewarm water, dissolve 2 tsp instant yeast and 1/2 tsp sugar
-1/4 cup sugar
-1/2 tsp salt
-1/2 cup lukewarm milk
-1 whole egg
-1/2 cup unsalted butter
Filling
-1/4 cup sesame oil
-1/2 cup chopped onion
-400 g ground pork
-1 tbsp soy sauce
-2 tbsp hoisin sauce (or barbecue sauce can be used)
-1 whole egg
-Salt and pepper to taste
-Boiled eggs
If no available bread flour, you can use 3 cups of all purpose flour as a substitute. It will give you the same outcome, however, it will be less chewy.
Yields about 20-21 siopao (50g each)
