We have a very unique child, and we certainly want him to feel good about everything in his life. Looking for support for our child who was struggling social-emotionally in school and found out that there was some correlation with ADHD diagnosis and sort of need for support for executive functioning. And so, in the process of trying to determine how best to bring our kiddo up to speed, we came across BrainWare.
Well, what appealed to me about the program, after Lori and I talked about it, was the video game aspect of it—things that Rion, our son, is interested in—and the initial assessment. For me, it confirmed some of the things that we were thinking where Rion might be strong and where he might be a bit weak. Working with our kiddo as his coach, I felt like it was challenging because it was an additional role to him that I was playing. But I felt like there was lots of supportive information through BrainWare, so that I didn't feel like the job was hard.
Some of the changes after completing the 12 weeks that we felt made improvements were: he socially was understanding peers better, and I noticed his ability to persevere, or just keep trying—or keep trying, yeah—and I think there was a bit of a sense of pride when he was finished with it, even on each lesson. I think that helped him performing his tasks or performing his brain games. I do think that there are openings now that he does things himself.
You know, if you're considering doing BrainWare for your kid, I think that you've already established that there are ways and ideas and science behind what is offered, and I think you should go for it. I think any support you can give your kid—um, the development of their brain—is of value. And for me, I think what I would say to other families: if you have the means, then I don't see why it's not worth an attempt, 'cause there's certainly some positive things you can pull out of it. And I think there are positive things that it offers to probably even myself.
Yeah, the refreshing thing about BrainWare for me was you could see that there was thought behind it, and there was effort at focusing on the aspects of learning. And I think that's helpful. We're excited to have participated and seen some growth, and it gives us sort of an additional launching point to know how to continue to support him.
