All around, I mean tenfold—I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It was an ad actually, and I saw "opportunity, see webinar." I was looking for some classes to take for my coursework, and I thought I'd give it a try.
The initial assessment was very helpful. It showed us what areas that we would be focusing on for the program. I was able to sit with him and see visually what he was struggling with and what he could breeze through quickly, so it was very helpful to kind of watch and observe through that process.
When he finished his elementary school year, he was really starting to struggle. Math was not his favorite subject, so I was getting concerned with middle school and how difficult things were going to be. I wasn't very thrilled about the challenges that were ahead of us, and after watching the videos in the webinar about the ways that we could help strengthen some of those areas with executive functioning, I thought that would really help him.
I'm so happy we had a coach. He helped my son come out of his shyness. The coach was able to push him where he needed to be pushed and kind of back up and give him some time.
He hasn't struggled very much at all. If anything, it's just been at the end of the quarter when everyone has a lot of due dates and things to get finished, but throughout his coursework he's kept straight A's. He's working on Honor Roll Society applications right now. He's very happy with where he is academically, and he's made some great friendships.
I can tell that when he's working on things at home, he's not frustrated. He takes his time and he's more detailed—where before he just wanted to finish and be done with homework. I feel like he's more connected with the things that he's working with. He's excited to share what he's learning, and he enjoys what he's doing at school.
Amazing. I can definitely see where things were landing—it made a lot of sense with the executive functioning skills, his study habits, things that we weren't pushing he was doing on his own, and even just the responsibilities at home where he was taking initiative to be responsible and helpful at home.
It's definitely a jump in faith. You might think you're not sure—I was reading through a lot of reviews and a lot of comments, and I wasn't sure if it was worth it, but it definitely is. There's a big commitment in time. You do have to set back some time to work together. If you have a coach, there's a time you have to meet with the coach, and there's a time to work with your child, and that's dedication. You've got to make sure you get there every week for it to be beneficial.
I'm just grateful for the experience. I'm so glad that I was able to find you and figure out that this was something that my child needed. I didn't know it existed. I knew that through education and learning, all these parts of the brain needed strengthening, and the school system was failing. I felt like this was a piece of the puzzle that was very helpful for my son. I'm very grateful.
