Not long ago, carbon-plated race shoes were fast … and uncomfortable.
They were Formula One cars — unbelievably light and explosive, but completely impractical for anything else.
The Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4 changes that.
At just 163 grams (US 9.5), with a 40mm stack height, 8mm drop, dual-layer Nitrofoam Elite and a flatter carbon plate, this might be the first true super shoe that feels just as comfortable walking to the shops as it does racing a marathon.
In this review, I cover:
• What makes it lighter than the Elite 3
• The outsole changes (and what you lose)
• Upper and toebox updates
• How it compares to the Metaspeed Sky
• Stability and “natural run” feel
• Whether it’s actually better than the Elite 3
Over the next few weeks I’ll be comparing this shoe against other super shoes — so let me know in the comments which match-ups you want to see.
