These are the top 10 signs you should break up with your significant other, based on my own experience leaving a relationship of 4.5 years.

Should we break up or stay together? Relationships can be tricky, and let's face it - breaking up sucks. Deciding whether to break up or stay in a relationship can be really conflicting. It can be hard to tell when to break up with someone or when to exit a relationship. Here are some tips from my experience that might help you tap into your intuition and make the right decision for yourself.

Should I break up with him? Here are my top 10 signs that you should leave him (and ways to tell a relationship isn't right):

1. They don't build you up or you don't feel supported in the things that matter to you
2. You have consistent doubt
3. You can't be your authentic self … you can't explore new interests
4. You want different things from your life
5. The longevity of the relationship is one of the reasons you're staying
6. Jealousy … if they're too jealous … if they're never jealous
7. Friends or family that matter to you can sense there's something wrong
8. If both of you were single, had never dated, and went on a first date together, would you enjoy it? Would you want to get to know them better?
9. You're just coexisting … you feel like you're just roommates
10. Fighting and arguing (or lackthereof). At any given moment you're more likely to be arguing or not on good terms, or if you've given up fighting altogether

Note: These signs you should break up are based on my personal experience being in a healthy but unfulfilling relationship. I did not discuss any sort of verbal, physical, or emotional abuse because I am not an expert in this and was fortunate enough to never experience it.
