A former Baltimore City Schools teacher says he’s been fired for doing his job. That former teacher is now suing North Avenue, claiming the district violated Maryland’s whistleblower protection laws.
“I'm ruined from this whole thing,” said Jeffrey Shulevitz. “Teacher is a calling, they took away my calling.”
The calling to become an educator came later in life for Jeffrey Shulevitz. Inspired by his own daughter with disabilities, the New York City native changed careers in his 40s and became a special education teacher.
