Here we step over to the Tokugawa's side to play a classic stage as them. We can't play as Hanzo here, annoyingly, so I took the opportunity to play as Sena. She uses the Naginata moveset which is shared with Hideyoshi, some Shogunate generic guy I can't bother to remember the name of, and one of the Mori guys (I don't remember which). You can really tell how much of an impression some of the characters in this game left on me.
Ieyasu, Tadakatsu, and Sena--all being morons--decide to attack the Takeda before Hanzo comes back from his scouting and then he has to fix everything by using a body double of Ieyasu. Which, for whatever reason, the game decides to translate that literally as Kagemusha (shadow warrior). And you'd be forgiven for not knowing what the hell that is because of that. You'd think you'd need to keep Ieyasu away from it, but there's no downside to having him rush to its side and in fact you have missions to do just that.
I would have shown Sena's Rage Musou at the end, but the game just ends the fight when Shingen still has a health bar remaining, so as I was waiting to use it when he activated his second health bar, the battle just ended. The game will do this a few more times as well, or just have enemies leave mid-fight. Really makes you feel like you're getting blue-balled when you can't finish a fight.
Also, you'll notice some enemy officers stay glued to their horses for a considerable amount of time. It's mostly just the Takeda that do this.
The devs seemed to have somehow been under the misconception that they have good mounted combat, but they can barely attack on their horses because most horse movesets in the game are just 3 hits long. Some less than that (Great Spear), some don't even have Charge attacks (Gloves), and the one weapon with a long horse moveset (Spear) ends up being one of the worst because it attacks from right-to-left and makes the horse come to a dead stop during its S-string and shockwave Charge attack. Any officers on a horse you basically get to just get a ton of free hits in because they can't do anything to stop you until you knock them off.
Although the horse musou is better, that has a massive AoE when charging now. I didn't think to even try it until towards the end of the game however, and even then, there's very few instances you'd want to use a horse musou rather than an on-ground one. Basically only if there's a long stretch of shield/spear blocking peons in front of you.
