Описание: True Musou Attack in the Samurai Warriors (Sengoku Musou) series is known as Musou Hi Ougi / 無双秘奥義 in Japanese. Video are sourced from niconico so the quality isn't very good (I might remake this compilation with my own recording in the future). Links are listed at the bottom of the description. Please read on to learn more about this translation project.

I was kind of surprised that no one had uploaded a SW1 Musou attack and victory pose compilation before on YT. Also I've seen people requesting translations of these musou attack voice lines on Reddit but no one answered their requests. Well, here you are!! :D

One thing to note though, is that some of the lines are different from subsequent releases (SW2~) which I'll explain below.

SW1 contains many pop culture references, and the SW1 guidebooks/fanbooks are full of jokes and puns as well, which is very unusual coming from Koei who had always taken a serious approach to their games.
The most prominent example is Maeda Keiji, an obvious homage to the manga series Hana no Keiji, and this is reflected in his dialogues as well.
MANY of Kunoichi's lines in the game are catchphrases from real-world pop culture. Probably, as she is a fictional character, the development team decided that they could have fun with her and make her break the fourth wall.
I have included the origins of these lines in the subtitles for those of you who are interested.

All the lines with references to pop culture had been changed in SW2, to reflect the more historical/realistic direction of the subsequent release, in contrast with the fantasy-ish approach of SW1. Oichi, Ranmaru and Nobunaga's lines were also changed to reflect their personality changes in SW2.

On the translation itself... As you might know Japanese is a very concise language - just a single verb without subject and object can form a proper sentence. For example "I'm going to kill you" in Japanese is simply 殺す ("kill"). This is why anime and Japanese song lyrics can sound very awkward when translated into other languages. My point is that most voice lines of the Musou attack are very curt and this makes them super difficult to translate without losing the original tone of the lines. It is hard enough to translate them into my mother tongue (Chinese) already!

As this is a translation project, not a localisation (if you want that you can play the English version), I want to convey the meaning of the original lines without changing them too much, while also explaining the historical background behind the voice lines, so you will have to bear with all the awkward translations and annoying notes.

I hope you enjoy this video!
