📿 Pray the Rosary • March 17, 2026 • Sorrowful Mysteries

On this Lenten Tuesday, we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, which guide us through Christ's Passion and death. We meditate on His Agony in the Garden, the Scourging at the Pillar, the Crowning with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross, and His Crucifixion. These mysteries reveal the depth of God’s love for us, a love that embraces suffering to bring about our salvation. Today we also remember St. Patrick, who endured his own trials and captivity, finding strength and purpose in God.

📖 Gospel (John 5:5–9, 15-16) According to the Lectionary for March 17, 2026: “One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been ill for a long time, he said to him, ‘Do you want to be well?’ The sick man answered him, ‘Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am on my way, someone else gets down there before me.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Rise, take up your mat, and walk.’ Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked... The man went and told the Jews that Jesus was the one who had made him well. Therefore, the Jews began to persecute Jesus because he did this on a sabbath.”

🙏 Reflection:

The man at the pool, suffering for thirty-eight years, represents a humanity trapped in brokenness, waiting for a healing that seems impossible. Jesus looks upon him with compassion and, with a simple command, restores him completely. This act of healing, however, leads to persecution, prefiguring Jesus' own path of suffering. The Sorrowful Mysteries remind us that our Savior entered into the depths of human pain—His own and ours. As we pray, let us bring our own infirmities and those of the world to Jesus. He who healed the paralytic can also heal us, forgive our sins, and give us the strength to carry our crosses with faith.
