From companies slashing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) programs to the president of the world’s largest economy eliminating all EDI programs and roles at federal departments, EDI has never been more under threat. How to manage that backlash was the focus of a webinar led by Dr. Wendy Cukier, founder and academic director of the Diversity Institute and academic research director of the Future Skills Centre (FSC), on January 22. Hosted with the Women's Executive Network (WXN), registration hit Zoom’s ceiling at almost 1,000 registrants.
Virginia Johnson, director of marketing and communications at WXN, introduced Cukier, who set the stage by noting the need to reframe EDI as a business imperative, embed it across organizational strategies, and address resistance with empathy, evidence and structural solutions for one simple reason: EDI drives performance, innovation and growth.
