Hi, I’m Fofo. This year, while most people returned to their hometowns for the Lunar New Year, I stayed behind in Shenzhen to work. In a city that suddenly feels quieter and emptier, I spend the holiday alone for the first time.
From late night shifts in e commerce, to buying new clothes for a fresh start, to cooking a simple New Year’s Eve dinner with ingredients from my hometown, this vlog captures the quiet reality of being young and far from family during China’s most important festival.
There are moments of loneliness, a little homesickness, and small comforts from my cat and a last minute dinner invitation to my flatmate. Sometimes, even strangers in a big city can keep each other company.
