Union Pacific has a large fleet of heritage units, and commemorative locomotives, on its roster. The Spirit of The Union Pacific is the company's 16th commemorative locomotive, and honors the men and women who have served in the armed forces. The front of the engine pays homage to a B-17 in WWII that had the name on its nose. It was the first heavy US bomber to be named after a railroad. The rest of the unit is painted in the other colors of the armed forces.
We'll first see the 1943 in Shakopee as it starts to roll through the heart of town. The second shot is just east of town before approaching Valley Park Yard. The final scene is in Savage, MN as it heads on its final portion of its trip to Saint Paul. The train had top UP officials taking a look at the line, and enjoying the views the route has to offer.
