Lost Inside Peru’s Wildest Jungle City

The only way into this South American city of half a million people is by plane or boat.

Today we're heading deep into Iquitos. Kicking things off in Peru's infamous Belen market, one of the most exotic spots in the Amazon. We got ourselves a lovely breakfast of grilled palm weevil grubs before investigating the fresh meat counters selling crocodile and jungle bush meat.

Next we headed down to barrio Belen, supposedly the most dangerous part of the Iquitos city.
Here a local took us out on his boat and we got a real look into how people live in these floating river communities. Life can be pretty harsh in Iquitos.

We ended the day on the banks of the Nanay River drinking cold beers and soaking up the Amazonian vibes.

Hidden deep in the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos is a pretty mental place.
