DIY Taste safe crayon

Описание: Make your own DIY taste safe crayons with natural ingredients.
It's a fun project and you get to control the colours.

You'll need the following ingredients
Beeswax (34 grams)
Carnauba wax (11 grams)
Cocoa Butter (5.5 grams)
Turmeric powder (1.5t teaspoons)

You'll also need the following tools:
A pot to boil water in
A heat resistant mould, preferably silicon or glass, but heat resistant plastic moulds may work as well. We used a silicon mould in our video.
Something to stir with (we used a silicon spatula)
A smaller container for the water bath. This should be heat resistant and be able to sit in the pot used. You can use a glass measuring container or something similar. We used a water scoop in our video, available at Daiso.

Steps:
1. Cut up the beeswax into smaller pieces, this will help it to melt faster.
2. Bring water to boil in the pot.
3. Place the beeswax, cocoa butter and carnauba butter into the container meant to create the water bath.
4. Place container into boiling water, the base of the container shouldn't touch the bottom of the pot. Allow the beeswax, cocoa butter and carnauba butter to fully melt.
5. Once melted, add in the pigment (turmeric powder) and mix well.
6. Pour mixture into mould and allow to set. This should take about an hour or once cool to touch.
7. Once cool to touch, remove from mould and test the colour.
8. If you feel the colour is insufficient, just throw the crayons back into a water bath and repeat the melting process. Add in some more pigment and allow to reset. Have fun experimenting!

For this video, we are making yellow coloured crayons, therefore we will be using turmeric powder. You can try making other colours using the following:

Red or pink : Beetroot powder
Green : Matcha powder (you can use a lower grade of matcha, ie culinary grade instead of ceremonial grade)
Blue : Blue pea powder or crushed dried blue pea flowers
Brown : Coffee or Cocoa powder
Black : Charcoal or charcoal powder

You can even combine different pigments to yield different colours. Addition of more of the pigment will darken the shade.
