Bonding with Toddlers on Video Calls for Grandparents & Parents

Описание: Grandparents, unable to get together in person, are trying to connect emotionally with their little ones face-to-face virtually through FaceTime, Duo, Facebook Messenger, Zoom, or whatever. We are often stuck with STARING toddlers, or even worse, wanderers. Parents are often chasing, or calling after, their little active explorers to stay still long enough to LISTEN... but is there really an emotional connection happening? Let me assure you, it CAN be done.

You CAN set up your video call in a way that will build that desired bond that is so important for all involved. I may not have all the answers, but I've put a lot of thought into it, since one of my Kindermusik families put forth this question in the Fall of 2020, when this is the case for so many. This video outlines how to set up for success with Systems, Moment in time, and Routines & Rituals during the call.

The 4 Elements of Connection, as outlined by Becky Bailey in Conscious Discipline is included as a basis for authentic interactions. And a few easy songs are included to jumpstart your ideas for critical routines that will help you build these emotional connections over time.

This is just a beginning, and I'm sure there are other moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and extended family who have some great methods of your own for entertaining and connecting with our YOUNGEST children. So please share your ideas in the comments.

Many of these processes are what we use in Kindermusik during our virtual classes. Virtual connections are best built through repetition as part of a routine (preparing their brain for success), so we gather at the same time more than once a week.
Our 1 -3 year olds (& siblings) join us online at 10:30 on Tues, Wed, & Thurs. Our 3-5 year olds join us online at 12:15 on Wed. & Thurs.
