Elderly Woman Crashes Into Antioch Township Tax Assessor's Office in Antioch, IL 02/19/26

Описание: On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 9:06 AM, the Antioch Police Department and Antioch Fire Department responded to a report of a car vs building crash with injuries at the Antioch Township Tax Assessor's Office, 1490 Main Street, in Antioch, Illinois.

Police officers and firefighter/medics arrived to find a red 2014 Buick Sedan that crashed into the front of the tax assessor's office.

Firefighter/medics evaluated the driver, a 78-year-old Antioch woman, and transported her to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL for complaints of chest pain, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

Antioch Deputy Police Chief Chuck Smith told Lake & McHenry County Scanner that the woman was the sole occupant of the Buick.

Antioch Battalion Fire Chief Tim Taylor, who was the incident commander, said that she sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

There were people in the assessor's office at the time, but none of them were injured and they were able to exit the building through a back door.

Firefighters used pike poles and hydraulic tools to remove parts of the door and window frames of the office so contractors can effectively board it up.

Fox Recovery & Towing – based out of Ingleside, IL – responded to tow the Buick and clean up the debris.

The Antioch Building Department responded to the scene to assess the damage and the structure itself.

Smith said that it appears the driver did not properly come to a stop while parking her car. It is currently unclear if she suffered a medical emergency before crashing into the building.

The crash remains under investigation by the Antioch Police Department.
