Greetings and welcome to the world Jaeger-LeCoultre. Today, I'll be your guide to the Reverso Tribute Moon, 49.7 millimeters by 29.9. The watch is a 2017 model year debut that combines classical styling elements with a number of surprising refinements. Now, the watch starts with a double deployant steel clasp. The clasp, blazoned with the Jaeger-LeCoultre interlocking JL logo, on its inside, fully finished in high polish, when buckled to the opposite side of the strap, provides insurance against accidental droppage while donning or removing at beside. But there is more.

You can see the subtle notation "Push Here" on the underside combining with the pull tab spring bars on both sides of the strap to allow you to undress your Reverso, removing the strap and the clasp completely for a change of look or simply deeper cleaning. Now, one of the great refinements of the 85th anniversary year for the Reverso, 2016, was the addition of a cambered case back. You can see how the lugs downturn rather dramatically at their periphery on both sides allowing the larger Reverso cases, such as this one, almost 50 millimeters from lug to lug to trace the curved arc of a smaller wrist allowing a large watch to wear compact.

You'll also note traditional Reverso features, such as the conical ends rounded beautifully in juxtaposition to the strong, horizontal case lines of the gadroons cut on the top and bottom in triplicate of the dial. Moving inboard, you can see an art deco inspired dial starting with a railroad interlocking minutes track outboard, fastened and hand applied blued hour indices and a beautiful silvered green texture that adds a gorgeous matte finish to the dial and provides utmost contrast relative to the dauphine style and the indices.

At 6, a countersunk radial date with blue and red highlights frames a moon phase with a gorgeous golden array of stars and moon. As it traces its arc across the moon phase dial, it's complemented by the second time zone with day-night indicator on the reverse side. Now, the reverse side features a beautiful Clous de Paris guilloché cut and countersunk second center dial, the second center dial giving you an independent time zone relative to the one on the opposite side and also that AM-PM or day-night clarification because this is your reference time. This is the time where you are not.

Now, while the watch does feature case line pushers for correcting the date and the moon phase, the largest pusher traditionally located on the case flank has, on this reference, been relocated. You can see there is a slide actuator that allows indexing of the second time zone without the need to resort to a case side pusher adjuster tool. Now, of course, the watch does include a pusher adjuster tool for setting of the calendar and the moon phase. However, the cardinal complication of the watch is entirely tool free.

Inside is a Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacturer caliber 853/A with a 42 hour power reserve manually wound. It features the dual time complication and a traditional Reverso 21,600 vibration per hour beat rate. While the original Reversos of the 1930s art deco era were not water resistant, this model is water resistant to three ATM, a spectacular feat in light of the cases, over 50 individual components.

Finally, artistry is not overlooked as a sunburst motif is featured on the interior of the Reverso carriage. On its exterior, a beautiful silvered granular finish across its rear. All of high polish on its front, as well as along its flanks. The watch gleams like the jewel it is. An icon of the manufacturer and one of the most complicated and practical entries in the Reverso catalog.
