In this video, I take on The Colossi with Barret in a No Damage, No Materia challenge run in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This is the World’s First under these specific restrictions!
I couldn't have done it without @KFCPhantasm , who is one of the kindest people in the community.
THE STRATEGY (Round by Round)
Round 1: Thugs 👊
Strategy: Stagger 3 thugs to max out the Limit bar immediately.
Icy Impulse was used to control the field and fix positioning.
Finish: Used Satellite Beam 2x for a quick wipe.
Round 2: Modded Sweeper 🤖
Strategy: Used Overcharge as an initial interrupt before closing the gap, as parrying is more consistent at close range. The strategy was to use Electric Impulse twice to induce an immediate Pressure state. This elemental cycling kept him locked down, leaving no openings for him to recover.
Round 3: Gigant Bomb 💣
Goal: Countering Fireball with Catastrophe for an Easy Stagger.
Strategy: Even though I parried the Fireball itself, the ensuing AoE was impossible to deflect. To maximize my limit gauge, I used Turbulent Spirit to chain two Lifeblood Cannons. After one more parry to top off the bar, I unleashed Catastrophe to trigger the stagger and finished him with a final Lifeblood Cannon.
I don't recommend using Satellite Beam to counter the Fireball for the stagger; the AoE will hit you unless it's a finishing blow. Countering with Catastrophe is much safer as it causes Barret to gain distance from the AoE. Furthermore, while Satellite Beam deals higher raw damage, Catastrophe provides significantly more stagger build-up.
Round 4: Moss-Grown Adamantoise 🐢
Strategy: Utilize Fiery Impulse (4x) to exploit the elemental weakness and build pressure on the Moss-Grown Adamantoise. After triggering a stagger and maximizing damage output, reset the rotation once the enemy recovers.
Round 5: Hell Rider II 🏍️
Goal: To stagger him as quickly as possible and maximize my damage output.
Note: While Hell Rider II is susceptible to Ice, I found the elemental strategy inefficient for this challenge. It requires approximately seven hits of Icy Impulse to induce pressure, which simply takes too long compared to other methods.
