On an overcast Saturday, December 15th, one of America's oft-overlooked steam locomotives spread some Christmas cheer!
Southern Pacific #745 - owned and operated by the Louisiana Steam Train Association - took two trainloads of passengers on a ride from Audubon Park to Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, where "The Polar Express" was shown and refreshments provided.
Following the movie, the passengers returned to the train and traveled to Jackson Square, where Santa Claus boarded to greet the kids on the train. The Steamboat "Natchez" also joined in the fray with gratuitous whistle-blowing and calliope playing! Enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas Steam in the Crescent City!
