Tanzanian miner Saniniu Laizer becomes millionaire overnight by selling Tanzanite stones.
Saniniu Laizer, a small-scale miner in Tanzania, discovered two of the largest Tanzanite stones on record weighing 9.27 and 5.1 kilograms each.
He sold the tanzanite to the government for $3.4 million. Until Mr Laizer found these stones, the largest Tanzanite gem ever found was 3.3kg.
He sold another huge Tanzanite stone he discovered for $2 million in August 2020.
