I’ve never made Swedish meatballs before.
So obviously… instead of following one recipe like a normal person, I made two different versions and two different sauces.
In this video I try:
• A more traditional Swedish meatball recipe
• A lighter, modern version
• Two classic-style sauces
• And absolutely no prior experience
Swedish meatballs were originally created in a time when people were far more physically active and relied more heavily on animal fats and cream. But today, many of us live much more sedentary lifestyles.
So I wanted to see:
Can a lighter version hold up?
Does tradition win?
And was this overly ambitious for a first attempt?
This is part cooking experiment, part cultural comparison, and part proof that I don’t know how to do anything the simple way.
