Footage of the last scheduled (M) train of 2023 to Forest Hills - 71st Avenue operating along the Queens Boulevard Line, delayed and going express after Roosevelt Avenue. This train ended up beating the (M) train that was ahead of it to Forest Hills.

Due to track replacement and other work being done on the 63rd Street line which is expected to last until sometime in early 2024, there are several long-term changes on for (E) , (F) , (M) , and (R) trains. The (F) will be rerouted onto the 53rd Street Line in both directions. As a result, the (M) will run between 57 Street - 6th Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue. Instead of headed via the 53rd Street Line into Queens. There is no direct access between 57th Street and Lexington Avenue - 63rd Street or the other stations along the 63rd Street Line. However, and (F) shuttle train running every 20 minutes at all times except late nights is operating between Lexington Avenue and 21st Street - Queensbridge.

What was supposed to be a simple Friday evening was ruined because of someone on the tracks at 63rd Drive, Rego Park. Initially southbound (R) trains were sent over the express track between 71st Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue. However that evolved with trains either operating at slower speeds in both directions, eventually leading to several Queens-bound local trains to run express. By the time the last (M) got into 71st Avenue, it was 14 minutes late. The penultimate (M) train to Forest Hills ended up being the last actual train to make all regular stops and was the actual last (M) train of 2023 to pull in and end at 71st Avenue. That train arrived 71st Avenue approximately 31 minutes late.
