Our first Beyond the Barrier film, Birthmark!
In this visually poetic short film, Haitian-born Edmonton poet Laurate Medgine (@medginespeaks) uses her art to explore the quiet burdens her mother carried while immigrating to a foreign land in search of a better future for her children. Through poetry, she uncovers a deeper understanding of her mother’s sacrifices and a renewed appreciation for the strength and love behind them.
This film was developed with AHC’s Youth Task Team member Abigail Gallimore (@abbijacs) and brought to life in collaboration with producer Valentine Ukoh (@mrvalspeaks).
