體長62~85公分。虹膜褐色。嘴黃色,嘴尖黑色。腳橙黃色。
雌雄體型相似,但雌鳥略小。成鳥頭頂污白色,頭部白色向下延伸,在頸側形成一道白色縱紋。頭後有二道黑色橫斑,前一道在頭頂稍後,較長,延伸至眼部,後一道位於枕部,較短。後頸黑褐色,背部淡灰褐色,羽緣棕色,形成鱗狀斑,翼覆羽灰色,先端黑色,腰及尾上覆羽白色,尾羽灰褐色。頦、喉污白色,沾有棕黃色,前頸暗褐色,胸、上腹灰色,下腹、尾下覆羽污白色,脇暗灰色,具暗栗色寬斑塊。
幼鳥頭部灰色,沒有黑色橫斑,頸灰褐色,兩側沒有白色縱紋,胸、腹灰白色,脇淡灰色,無暗栗色斑塊。
雛鳥絨毛鮮黃色,沾有淺灰色。虹膜暗棕色,嘴灰黑色,腳橙黃色。
分布:
繁殖於中亞、克什米爾、蒙古國,冬季則飛越喜馬拉雅山脈,遷抵印度、巴基斯坦、中國雲南、緬甸、台灣等地,途中可以飛經海拔8800公尺,在鳥類飛翔高度號稱世界第一。

Feature:
The body length is 62~85 cm. Iris brown. Mouth yellow, tip black. Feet orange.
Both sexes are similar in size, but the females are slightly smaller. The top of the adult bird's head is stained white, and the white head extends downward, forming a white longitudinal stripe on the side of the neck. There are two black horizontal spots on the back of the head. The former one is longer on the top of the head and extends to the eyes, and the latter one is located on the occipital and is shorter. The back neck is dark brown, the back is light grayish brown, and the feather margins are brown, forming scaly spots, the wing coverts are gray, the apex is black, the waist and tail coverts are white, and the tail feathers are grayish brown. The chin and throat are white, stained with brownish yellow, the front neck is dark brown, the chest and upper abdomen are gray, the lower abdomen and the undertail coverts are white, the flanks are dark gray, with dark maroon broad spots.
The head of the young bird is gray without black horizontal spots, the neck is gray brown, there are no white longitudinal stripes on both sides, the chest and belly are gray white, the sides are light gray, and there are no dark chestnut spots.
The fluff of the chicks is bright yellow, stained with light gray. The iris is dark brown, the mouth is gray-black, and the feet are orange-yellow.
Distributed:
It breeds in Central Asia, Kashmir, and Mongolia. In winter, it flies over the Himalayas and migrates to India, Pakistan, China's Yunnan, Myanmar, and Taiwan. On the way, it can fly over 8,800 meters above sea level. It is known as the world's highest bird flying height.
