#youtubeover40 Have you ever sat there thinking, "I would love to start a YouTube channel," only to immediately tell yourself, "I am too old," or "I am too shy"? I used to look at creators and think I could never do that because my introvert brain would not allow it. But I realised something vital: starting a channel wasn't just a hobby; for many of us, it is a path to freedom.
In this video, I share the reality of starting a YouTube channel at 68 years old. We discuss overcoming the fear of technology and judgement, but more importantly, we talk about the why. For many women in our community, you might be feeling stuck in a toxic relationship or experiencing coercive control through finances. You feel powerless.
I am here to tell you that creating a channel can be your first step towards financial independence and finding your voice again. We discuss how to start a YouTube channel for beginners, why being an introvert is actually a superpower, and how to reclaim your power when you feel you have none.
It is time to prioritise yourself. If I can do it, you certainly can too, darling.
Here are the tutorials I've found so far:
📍 How To Record A Voiceover | CapCut Tutorial – Mike McAinsh
📍 Record Voiceover on Your Phone for Videos – Shana Yurko
Here are four additional resources that are slow, calm, and perfect for beginners. These focus on the "visual" side—how to easily find pictures and put them together without stress.
1. A very calm guide to finding free, safe photos This is essential. Your ladies need to know where to get beautiful pictures that are free to use so they don't get in trouble with copyright.
📍 How to Find Copyright Free Images on Google – Aurelius Tjin
Why this is good: He speaks clearly and shows exactly how to use Google safely to find images they are allowed to use. It removes the fear of "breaking the rules."
2. The simplest way to make a "Slideshow Video" on a phone If CapCut feels too much like "editing," this tutorial shows how to use Canva on a phone. It’s basically "drag and drop photos, add text, save as video."
📍 How To Create Canva Slideshow Video For Beginners – The Social Guide
Why this is good: It treats the video like a moving photo album. Very intuitive for someone used to physical photos.
3. Setting up the YouTube Channel itself (The "Tech-Free" Explanation) This video is wonderful because it doesn't assume you know what "Studio" or "Dashboard" means. It walks through the setup slowly.
📍 How to Start a YouTube Channel in 2025 (Beginner's Guide) – Gillian Perkins
Why this is good: Gillian has a very soft, articulate speaking style. She explains why she is clicking things. Note: It is a bit longer, so you might advise them to watch just the first 10 minutes to get set up.
4. How to add text to your video (if they don't want to speak) For the ladies who really are too shy to speak yet, this shows how to put text over a video background using Canva.
📍. Create videos with photos in minutes! – Canva Official
Why this is good: It’s from the official Canva team, so it’s very high quality and clear. It shows how professional you can look with simple photos and text.
