Fairey Firefly PP566 of Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Air Squadron (No 1830 Sqn) crashed near the summit of Meikle Bin in the Campsie Fells on 08/01/1950.
Sadly pilot Lt John Arthur Robertson of the FAA RN and observer A.C.1 John Smith RNVR were killed in the accident.
The aircraft was on a local flight from RNAS Abbotsinch (now Glasgow Airport).
