In this video I talk about the idea of anchoring one end of a muscle for better muscle control. If you anchor one end of a muscle the muscle can then contract towards or lengthen away from that anchor point.
Another idea is that of using opposing muscles against each other to stabilize a joint in any position.
So if stabilizing the spine, the idea is that the spine doesn't have to be neutral for you to stabilize it. You can stabilize it while side-bending, front/back bending or twisting it. And likewise with other joints and collections of joints.
