The state government has taken a crucial decision regarding the construction of the Dugarajupatnam port, which falls under the Wakada mandal of Tirupati district. This project is set to transform the face of Rayalaseema. In accordance with the promise made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, a port is to be built in Dugarajupatnam. Following the reorganization of districts, this area now falls under Tirupati district, and this port will be crucial in adding an industrial dimension to the spiritual capital. This project, which was previously stalled due to environmental concerns and objections from ISRO, is now being planned for construction using state-of-the-art technology, ensuring minimal environmental impact. The government is planning to develop this port over an area of ​​more than 1500 acres.The port will be crucial for the Kopparthi Industrial Park in Kadapa, another one in Kurnool, and the Sri City industries in Chittoor district. It will significantly reduce transportation costs for exporting minerals like granite and barytes, and for importing goods from other countries. This will benefit industrialists in the Rayalaseema region. The previous YSRCP government focused special attention on this project immediately after coming to power.
