MAJA, directed by Cindy "Mimi" Phan and produced by Executive Director, Michelene Cherie for Frogtown Arts, tells the story or Milton "Maja" Jurado, a Los Angeles-based artist from his arrival in the U.S. in the early 1970's to present time.
The film chronicles Maja’s journey, his struggles as an undocumented gay teenager and ultimately his finding his place amongst Angelenos and the art community in our city, establishing himself as a master painter, furniture maker and bread dough sculpture artist. Now based in Echo Park with an art studio here Frogtown, Maja is a well-respected artist showcasing his work in galleries, local businesses and the Frogtown Artwalk.
