The Story of Us Running Aground and Nearly Drowning in Sweden

This video is the story of what happened to us after we ran aground in the Stockholm Archipelago and the mistakes we made that nearly lead to the drowning of both the captain and myself. I have made this "Part II" of previous episode (    • Sailing from Ljusterö through the Stockhol...   ) so it would be a stand alone story and a cautionary tale of sorts to try and help any sailors out there that might find themselves in a similar situation in the future.

I am very grateful to have not drowned on that day and felt it was my duty to other mariners to share this experience and the mistakes we made to try and help others.

It is very easy to judge our actions from he comfort of ones home but please keep in mind that when you are faced with life or death situation sometimes you have to make less than ideal choices or watch a friend drown.

I would have done some things the same and some things differently, either way, here is the story.

This latest season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip.
