Описание: The term Relative Atomic Mass is explained, with an emphasis on how and why the unit “u” is abandoned. The power of using ratios in science is also explored. Relative Atomic Mass is distinguished from Atomic Mass as well as Atomic Weight. The difference between Atomic Number and Atomic Mass, and their connection to the Periodic Table are also covered.

Finally, the modern definition of Relative Atomic Mass compares atoms’ masses to carbon taken as 12, rather than hydrogen taken as 1, is explained and shown to make almost no difference at all.
