🛢 The Trans-Alaska Pipeline
Seeing the legendary Trans-Alaska Pipeline System in person was a very cool experience. It’s massive, historic, and a true symbol of Alaska. Definitely worth stopping to check out and learn about how oil moves across the state in extreme conditions.

🦌 Reindeer Experience at Borealis Basecamp
We visited Borealis Basecamp and got to interact with reindeer up close — such a unique Alaskan experience! Being surrounded by snowy forest while feeding and petting reindeer felt straight out of a winter movie.

🌌 Northern Lights Tour – Bucket List Moment
We did a guided aurora tour with Aurora Chasers (shoutout to Ronn and Marketa!) and witnessed the most incredible display of the Northern Lights. Watching the aurora dance across the sky in person is something photos just can’t capture. If you’re coming in winter, this is a MUST.

🧊 Castner Glacier Ice Cave
Exploring Castner Glacier Ice Cave was unreal. The blue ice, frozen textures, and massive cave formations made it one of the most breathtaking spots of the trip. The drive out there was beautiful too — and we saw moose along the way!

🫎 Wildlife Everywhere
We saw so many moose, especially on the drive toward Castner Glacier. Seeing them in the wild, just roaming through the snowy landscape, felt like a true Alaska moment.

🚀 Chatanika Gold Dredge No. 3
Built in 1922, Chatanika Gold Dredge No. 3 once chewed through tons of gravel every day in search of gold. Seeing it up close — quiet now, but still towering and powerful — was such a cool reminder of the scale and grit of early Alaskan mining life.

Where We Stayed
We stayed at a cozy Airbnb in the woods outside Fairbanks. Highly recommend this route if you want privacy, snowy views, and a quiet, authentic Alaska vibe. We cooked most of our meals there, which was perfect after long days in the cold.

• Gloves + glove liners
• Warm hat + face covering

• Third Layer - Insulated snow pants
• Darn Tough mountaineering socks
• Baffin Snow Monster Insulated boots

Layering is EVERYTHING. Once you’re dressed properly, you can actually enjoy being outside — even in negative temperatures.
