God's word is like a seed. It's chock-full of nutrients and power.
But like any seed, if you lay it by itself on a shelf, it won't grow. It's life waiting to happen.
But it needs water; it needs fertile ground.
And this is where the fun starts. It's SO God—wait for it.
The seed is the Word of God. The water is the Holy Spirit. Your heart, or better said, the condition of your heart, is the soil.
In other words, if you have a hard, stony heart, the seed is never going to take root. It will wither.
If your heart is full of worries, fear, or the pleasures of life, or as Jesus calls them, "the thorns," the seed will grow for a little while, but eventually, it will get choked by the thorns and weeds. Again, not a good scenario, unless you're a fan of nettle soup. 😉
But here's where the fun starts. If your heart has good ground, then we're in business! Now all the ingredients are present to grow some fruits similar to the giant fruits the 12 scouts of Israel brought home from the Promised Land!
But it's not going to happen overnight.
Good ground doesn't just happen. It needs to be cultivated. It doesn't mean there are no thorns or weeds; it just means they get no chance to grow because you won't let them.
That's why Proverbs 4 says to "guard your heart." In other words, tend your garden.
Now, almost there. This is the part I love. We have seed, we have good ground, and now all we need is water. Enter: the Holy Spirit!
This is so cool; God is always looking to work together with us—a partnership.
Do you know why the Bible makes such a big deal about breath? Psalm 150 says, "Let all that has BREATH praise the Lord!"
God adds His breath, His Holy Spirit, when Abram becomes Abraham. That's His breath.
Did you know you can't even introduce yourself without naming God first? I Am Xander. It's God's breath before your name.
Now, every breath contains roughly 22 mg of water. That's, on average, 0.4 liters of water per day!
That's why, for example, AI worship music is never going to work. It won't bring fruit. I don't care what anybody says. You know why?
It has no breath. No water. No proof of life.
We need the breath of the Holy Spirit, His water, His life, to let the Word grow.
It's God partnering with you. When you sing His word or read His word aloud, your God-given breath is the drop of water that wraps around His seed.
Isn't that amazing?! It's the ultimate partnership.
Now, watch it grow! 🌱

Luke 8 - The Seed
5. Some [seed] fell by the wayside;
it was trampled down, and the birds ate it up.
6. Some [seed] fell on rocky ground;
and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away.
7. Some [seed] fell among thorns,
and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.
8. But others fell on good ground, sprang up,
and yielded a crop a hundredfold.
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
12. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear;
then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts.
13. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy;
and these have no root, who believe for a while
and in time of temptation fall away.
14. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who,
when they have heard,
go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life,
and bring no fruit to maturity.
15. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who,
having heard the word with a noble and good heart,
[and] keep it and bear fruit with patience.
[yes] keep it and bear fruit with patience.
