In her keynote, Shirley Bhatnagar - professor at UPES School of Design, renowned ceramic artist, and founder of Irregular Beauty - took the audience on a visually rich journey through the world of ceramics. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, Shirley blended tradition with a bold personal language, reviving craft practices in contemporary contexts through storytelling, humour, and historical references.
With four solo shows and numerous group exhibitions in India and internationally, Shirley’s work has explored form, texture, and memory while sparking conversations around cultural identity and modern relevance. Through her teaching, she has continued to inspire the next generation of designers to see craft not as static heritage but as a living, evolving practice.
