In 2005, as a grade 11 student Nocebo made the decision that she would pursue a career in photography. She says this is one of the best decisions she has made. This medium has revealed new worlds and has taught her to keep asking questions. In this talk, she reflects on her photographic journey and how this voyage continues to allowed her the opportunity to face her fears, make discoveries, take bold steps and keep aiming to being a revolutionary thinker. Nocebo Bucibo is a photographer based in Johannesburg. She is a Ph.D. Urban and Regional Planning candidate at Wits University and holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, from the same institute (awarded with distinction). She has a National Diploma and BTech in photography from the Vaal University of Technology.
She has worked on a number of photographic projects such as the 20018/19 Market Photo Workshop Incubation program, the Wits Roodepoort project in conjunction with PARI and the VUT Sharpeville project. She was a 2009 Sasol signatures finalist and SABS young design achievers finalist in the same year.
