Boeuf Bourguignon, or Beef Burgundy, is a delicious and well-known French meat stew. I really love it, and it's not at all difficult to cook. If I can do it, I think anyone can.
But you need to start cooking ahead of time, long before you get hungry, as it tastes best if it gets to stew in the pot for several hours. It's easy, but takes time.
I would usually use chuck roast, or some other beef suited for soup or stew. But I've also done it with game, like deer or moose. The red wine doesn't have to be anything expensive either.

Recipe:
Boeuf Bourguignon (Beef Burgundy)
For 3-4 people
750g /25oz Beef
100g / 4oz Bacon
4 Carrots
2 Garlic cloves
250g / 9oz Mushrooms
½ l / 1pt Red Wine
2cl / 4 tsp Brandy (Cognac)
Parsley
Salt, Pepper
