In July 2024, 26-year-old Faizan Kabir was found asleep behind the wheel of his BMW at 3:49 a.m., slumped over in a moving lane of traffic. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated in Harris County.
Less than a month earlier, he had picked up another DWI in Navarro County.
Judge Fleischer initially gives Kabir a chance... strict bond conditions, an ignition interlock device, curfews, monitoring. But over the next several months, the court receives three separate bond violation reports.
The first two involve ignition interlock lockouts. Technical issues, perhaps.
The third alleges alcohol consumption detected by a SCRAM device.
By the time Kabir returns to court with retained counsel, Judge Fleischer makes it clear: there have already been too many chances.
