In 1989, the Danish Tournament took place, a friendly inter-team competition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Danish Football Association (DBU). The Brazilian team, under the command of coach Sebastião Lazaroni, was one of the guests - along with Sweden and, of course, the home team.
Lazaroni had to take a totally alternative team and with athletes from the second tier of national football, the result of the Brazilian participation would be meager.
In the first match, defeat to Sweden by 2-1. Already against the Danish national team, another defeat, now by humiliating 4-0, with a show by Danish star Michael Laudrup, who scored two of the goals.
