Hip flexor stretch + hip opener yoga for tight hips, anterior pelvic tilt, and low back pain relief (Day 2).
14-Day Hip Mobility Challenge — Day 2 (Yoga Align)
Today we’re working on your hip flexors — and yes, this matters more than most people realize.
Why hip flexors?
Because almost everything in daily life is hip flexion:
walking
stairs
sitting + standing
getting in/out of the car
tying shoes
hiking, cycling, pickleball…
Hip flexion = your knee moves toward your chest (or your chest toward your knee).
So these muscles are constantly “on.”
If you don’t regularly move them in the opposite direction (hip extension), they tend to get short and tight.
What tight hip flexors do to your low back
Some hip flexor muscles attach near the lumbar spine, and others attach to the pelvis.
When they’re tight, they can tug the pelvis forward into an anterior pelvic tilt, which increases the curve in the low back.
Once in a while? No big deal.
But when it becomes chronic, your body starts talking:
tension → achiness → stiffness → pain
And here’s the “loving wake-up call” part:
If this stays unaddressed long enough, the body can adapt with structural changes that are harder to reverse (disc irritation, degenerative changes like spondylosis, and other alignment issues).
I’m not saying this to scare you — I’m saying it because I want you to take this seriously now, while it’s still very changeable.
Your job today
Follow the cues closely.
Go for release, not intensity.
This is not “how deep can I stretch?”
This is “how smart can I realign?”
A short practice like this can absolutely be enough — especially when you do it consistently.
Move with ease, be at peace. 🐺
