Canada Speaks in Diverse Ways/Les voix du patrimoine/ Aki Animitagozig, is a soon to be launched educational web series, developed by Odyssey Showcase, that artistically presents diverse Canadian experiences and history. Our goal is to encourage authentic change to the way we see, learn and speak about ourselves and others.
The trailer is for the pilot episode, Justice On Tap/Justice de cabaret. The title reflects the failed legal battle of Fred Christie, who was denied service of a beer because he was Black – an experience that was upheld as legal by the Supreme Court of Canada in 1939 (Christie v. York Tavern case).
The persons featured in the pilot episode have performed in many of our live Odyssey Showcase productions over the past twenty-three years and excerpts will be incorporated into future live presentations, especially for students and educators.
