In this transformative video, we will see the Day 6 of our Kapha Balancing Ayurvedic Plan - to increase your energy, improve your immunity and lose weight.
To kickstart your morning, I have given you a stimulating herbal tea in the morning
LUNCH
Avoid eating while glued to screens or gadgets, as it causes sensory overload and also leads to overeating and improper chewing. Focus on your meals and enjoy them. This leads to better digestion of your meals.
VEGETABLE SPICED RICE OR PULAO WITH BUTTERMILK.
It's a delicious rice dish that cooks very easily.
1. Ingredients:
½ cup hand pound or basmati rice.
2 cups chopped mixed vegetables (kale, bell peppers, courgette, little cauliflower, broccoli)
Seasoning - 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp black mustard seeds, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 2 pinches salt, 1 lime juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 tbsp. ghee
Water - 1 cup
TO MAKE A PASTE - 1/2 cup coriander leaves, 2 tbsp. roasted unhulled sesame seeds, 1 inch piece of fresh ginger
Buttermilk
1/4 cup organic whole milk yogurt (preferably homemade) (Vegans can use unsweetened almond milk yogurt)
1 cup cool water
1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
Rock salt to taste
½ inch ginger
Kapha pacifying Buttermilk
Add yogurt and water in a blender. After beating, the froth will appear at the top of the yogurt, forming butter. With a spoon remove this froth or butter.
Blend again with salt, and cumin powder.
Serve fresh with vegetable rice. Ideally buttermilk is had at the end of the meal. Make a fresh batch each day
You can make ghee with the removed froth or butter if you would like to.
3. Benefits:
This pulao is a very easy one pot meal to make. Grains like white rice should be used rarely for kapha body type however addition of vegetables makes it kapha pacifying. Coriander pacifies pitta as well. Buttermilk is very easy to digest and helps to improve digestion. Addition of ginger adds the warmth to pacify the kapha dosha.
DINNER
QUINOA MUNG PANCAKE
1. Ingredients:
1 cup quinoa seeds
½ cup mung beans
1 tsp. fenugreek seeds
2 small cups of mix vegetables or chopped onion and coriander
Seasoning - salt, green chilli or red chilli powder, ½ inch ginger, roasted cumin powder
1 tbsp. ghee or olive oil.
Benefits:
Ama (toxins) can cause digestive issues, fatigue and sluggishness in the body.
Quinoa and mung beans help to remove ama (toxins) from the body.
This dosa or pancake is suitable for all dosha types. Both quinoa and mung beans are rich in protein and help to build muscles. They are very easy to digest as well
