Snapping hip syndrome (also known asdancer’s hip or coxa saltans) is a condition characterised by a snapping sensation that is heard or felt during the movement of the hip joint(1): commonly you can experience it when doing an exercise like a dead bug.
Is it bad? 😟
No! It’s usually not serious 🤓
Mostly it is painless, but approximately 5-10% of the population has this issue & it can be bothersome for some.
You can get internal & external variants of snapping hip syndrome(2), today I am going to address the internal variant with just ONE example (it may not work for everyone as we’re all very different) but this sequence has helped many before!
Some effective tools to address this issue are:
🔵 Proper warm up
🔵⌨️ Self massage on pressure points
🔵 Hip & core exercises where you re-learn where that range is before your hip does the snapping sensation
🔵 Slowly increasing range via slowing down the tempo & getting more strict with a few form tips
Over time you should be able to increase the range you have before the “pop” happens & eventually for many this may go away entirely if you stay consistent with your specific rehab & keep moving ☺️
Hope this helps & please remember to share with a friend who would find this useful!
