Today we had planned to cover all points in and around Mainpat. As planned we got up in the morning at 5:00am and were on the road by 6:15pm heading straight for Tiger point. Early morning drive through the roads of Mainpat was thrilling. There is a waterfall in Tiger point and one has to climb down around 200 steps to reach the old view point.

After tiger point we drove to Buddhist monastery located in camp 2 of Tibetian settlement. Due to recent Covid cases all monasteries in Mainpat are closed for visitors, so we paid our respects from outside. Inside camp 2 there is a small place where a Buddhist shrine is built. At this place the colorful flags representing buddhist culture were flying and the atmosphere in and around the place was filled with positive vibes.

Continuing ahead we paid a visit to shabri emporium which is a CG government undertaking and one can buy handmade carpets and Handicrafts made by artists of Bastar. Next we headed for Jaljali which is famous for the phenomenon of vibrating ground. As you walk or jump on the ground at Jaljali the ground behaves as a cushion. No scientific explanation for this phenomenon has been found.

Next we reached Fish Point. There are two falls and a small pond here. It was sad to see the whole place littered by tourists. Just before sunset we reached a beautiful pond which is located just in front of carnival ground and then our last point for the day was the monastery in camp 1 which was again closed but we could still feel the positive vibes.

By this time it was getting dark and we headed back to our hotel. There is a sunrise point named “Mehta point” which we decided to explore in the morning next day before leaving.

Road condition : All roads in and around Mainpat are in good condition. You may find an occasional bad patch here and there but overall all roads are quite good and you can easily explore Mainpat even in a small hatchback car.
